Edinburgh International Book Festival

PAMIS hosts a weekly online art session led by artist Dave Grigor. These sessions are always full of fun and creativity, and Helen is supported to participate, often designing book-themed characters of her own.

Helen’s Dragon Takes Centre Stage

Over the summer, Helen created her own dragon character, which was proudly showcased at the Edinburgh International Book Festival. While there, she had the chance to meet author James Webster and illustrator Tim Budgen, who both signed her copy of George and the Mini Dragon. Tim even surprised Helen with an impromptu sketch of “Lava,” the book’s main character. This special piece of art now hangs proudly in Helen’s home as a treasured memory.

A Magical Experience

Part of George and the Mini Dragon tells of George’s interest in magic. To bring this to life, James Lantern from Hopscotch Magic performed a captivating magic show and even taught Helen a few tricks. To top off the experience, he presented her with a certificate recognising her magical talents, along with her very own magic wand.

It was a truly special afternoon filled with creativity, inspiration, and a touch of magic… an event Helen will always remember.
