Our very own technology hero is also a local hero for Airdrie and Shotts, and he was recently honoured with a recognition award presented by King Charles.

Frank attended the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, Edinburgh, on 28th September 2024. He was surprised to find an email informing him that he had been nominated for a Local Hero Award by the Health & Social Care Minister, Neil Gray. Just one hour later, he received a letter confirming that he had won the award, along with an invitation to meet the King to receive his recognition.

Community Dedication and Achievements

To give you some background on Frank’s numerous projects, he was appointed Chair of his local committee in Salsburgh. His community efforts began with simple acts like maintaining the community garden and installing lights and cameras to improve safety and reduce crime. Frank has also assisted people in finding emergency housing, supported those struggling to afford food, and established a fund to help single parents cover heating and electricity bills. Additionally, he sponsors local football and boxing teams and collaborates closely with the police and housing department, using his own technology to further reduce crime in the area.

A Memorable Day for the Local Hero

On the day of the award, Frank described it as a truly memorable experience. He not only met the King and Queen but also had the opportunity to meet Neil Gray, the Health and Social Care Minister who had nominated him, as well as prominent Scottish politicians Alex Salmond and John Swinney, the First Minister of Scotland. The entire day felt surreal to him.

A Vital Role at Potential Living

Frank also plays a significant role at Potential Living, working alongside us to provide high-quality care that enables people to live independently and safely in their own homes. He collaborates closely with our ROC (Response on Call) team and other care providers to ensure the safety and well-being of our focus people.

Recognition Well-Deserved

As you can see, this award was truly deserved. Frank has made a remarkable impact on his community, local councils, the police, and Potential Living. Recognition where it is due.

Well done, Frank—you truly deserve this!
